Drones and 3D mapping technology support searches in difficult terrain
ABU DHABI – The UAE Search and Rescue Team has intensified operations in Nepal following devastating floods, locating six people reported missing in the Trishuli area.
The team is continuing field searches in coordination with Nepalese authorities as part of the UAE’s humanitarian response to the Nepal flood disaster.
Operations are being carried out across affected areas amid challenging terrain and difficult conditions.
Six located
The UAE team successfully located six missing people in the Trishuli area as search operations continued in flood-affected locations. The mission is part of ongoing efforts to support Nepalese authorities in locating missing people and reaching areas impacted by the Nepal flood.
The rescue team is maintaining operations in both Rasuwa and Trishuli, conducting daily field missions and deploying specialist equipment to targeted locations. The operations require teams to work across difficult terrain while assessing areas affected by the disaster.
Advanced technology
Drones are being used extensively during the searches, providing aerial imaging and surveying capabilities to help teams assess affected locations. The UAE team is also using three-dimensional mapping technology to improve search operations and support access to targeted areas.
The combination of drones, aerial surveys, 3D mapping and advanced search equipment is helping teams examine difficult-to-reach locations and identify areas requiring further operations.
Hammoud Al Afari, Director of UAE Relief Operations, said the UAE team continues its missions in coordination with Nepalese authorities, deploying its capabilities and expertise to support search and rescue operations and locate missing people.
The latest searches form part of the UAE’s wider humanitarian response to the Nepal flood disaster, which includes specialist search and rescue operations and the provision of relief assistance to people affected by the flooding.
